Vice President for Student Affairs
Gary B. Crosby, Ph.D., serves as Vice President for Student Affairs at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. Crosby brings over 15 years of innovative and progressive administrative experience in higher education.
Crosby is recognized as a student-centered, customer service-oriented and transformational leader, and his professional trajectory has been short of remarkable. Prior to his appointment as Vice President for Student Affairs, he served in various capacities at Jackson State University. During his tenure at JSU, he secured a multi-million dollar grant from the United States Department of Education to establish the Center for Student Engagement and Service. He is truly a visionary with a unique understanding and appreciation for today’s millennial students, and is committed to their holistic development.
Nationally, Dr. Crosby is recognized as an expert in the field of community development and housing, post-natural disasters in urban cities. He has presented original research before state and national planning boards.
A native of Hattiesburg, Miss., Dr. Crosby holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from The University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in political science, and a doctorate in urban and regional planning from Jackson State University. In addition, he holds a certificate in Educational Management from Harvard University, and is a 2016 Protégé of the Millennium Initiative.
Crosby and his wife, Larissia, are the parents of one daughter, Julia.
